Operational Assessment of the Office of the State Fire Marshal

Project description:

Conduct an operational assessment of the cost and outcomes of the public services provided by the Office.

Evaluation Objectives:

This evaluation will be guided by four key objectives within the scope set forth by the Legislative Oversight Committee:

1.      Examine the agency's revenues and expenses, to include an analysis of the cost of permits.

2.      Assess the agency's processes for reviewing and approving permits and licenses, to include the total time for the applicant, average amount of staff time per issuance, and the use of third-party contractors.

3.      Compare Oklahoma's timeliness to other government entities performing similar services to identify best practices and opportunities for improved delivery of services and increased efficiency.

4.      Review the enforcement mechanisms available to the OSFM and how the Office uses its authority.
